INSERTING IMAGES

Place the cursor where you want to insert the image. Choose INSERT IMAGE on the EzySite Inplace Editor toolbar. The Image Library will appear.

You will find any photo's and many of the graphics used on your site within these folders. Search through the folders to find the image you wish to insert. Click on the image name to preview it in the panel on the right.

Alternative Text: In here you can type a brief phrase or description of the photo that will appear as the user moves their mouse over the image. For example, on a photo of a person you might want to type their name.

Horiz Space: This is the margin to the left and right of the image. This is handy if you have text beside the image and you want a small space or 'margin' between the two. A horizontal space of around 10 is usually sufficient.

Vert Space: This is the margin around the top and bottom of the image. A vertical space of 5 to 10 is usually sufficient.

Align Text: This places the image and wraps the text around the image so that no big white space gaps are created. Options are to the left of all text, right of all text or where inserted in the text.

When you are done click 'insert' under the preview to place that image on your page. Click 'delete' only if you want to remove the image from the selection of available images. If you want to remove an image from your page simply place the cursor beside it and hit the delete key.

INSERTING IMAGES FROM YOUR PC:

Place the cursor where you want to insert the image. Choose INSERT IMAGE on the EzySite Inplace Editor toolbar. The Image Library will appear.

Click on the folder you want your image to be uploaded into (for example, you might choose the "photos" folder if you are uploading a photo of your office).

Click on the BROWSE button. Your computer's Windows Explorer screen will appear.
From here you can locate the file you wish to upload. Double click the image file to select it. The file's path and name will appear in the Local File field (near the bottom of the Image Library screen).

Click UPLOAD to load the image into the folder. Then select the image by clicking on its name (it will preview window on the right) and set any other parameters you want on the image as above (eg, align centre, Horiz Space).

Click INSERT.

IMPORTANT: When naming your images do not use any spaces between the words and keep the name brief. If you want to differentiate between words use hypens, underscores or capitals.

TIPS

  • Try to keep your images below 30kb (under 20kb is ideal). Anything larger than this will take too long to load. People viewing your site will not hang around waiting for images to load on the page.

  • Get your image to the correct dimension size BEFORE inserting it. Doing so will not reduce the physical size of the image - a 500x500 pixel wide image that is 40kb will still be 40kb when you have sized it down to 100x100 pixels. If you resize it properly first in an image editing program it may only end up being 10kb and thus take less time to view.

  • Save photo's as .jpg format. Save cartoon style images and text images as .gif format.
